Connie Viney is known for her outlandish and larger than life sculptures and installations made from cake and icing.

Connie has been commissioned by Jenners Department Store in Edinburgh, the BBC Good Food Show, and Belling Home Appliances. As well as having a number of gallery exhibitions under her belt, Connie creates bespoke wedding and birthday cakes, all of which are an adventure in themselves.

She gains inspiration from folk art, children’s story books and the work of the artists Hieronymus Bosch and Niki de Saint Phalle.

'Say You'll Be There' Painting Exhibition at Cass Art Islington, London

Victoria's 8 Tiered Wedding Cake

I was asked by a beautiful bride-to-be, Victoria, to create an 8 tiered wedding cake with flowers cascading down the side. The cake flavours included vanilla sponge, strawberry and champagne and carrot- so it was a perfect opportunity for me to experiment with flavour combinations. This was the first time I've worked with real flowers (avalanche roses, bouvadia, vibernium, hydrangeas) so it was quite a challenge to say the least. Fortunately, I was more than happy with the final result, as were the happy couple!

Crop Up Gallery's 100 Heroes Exhibition

This was definitely one of my favourite cake projects to date! Nottingham's Crop Up Gallery commissioned me to design and build a giant cake sculpture for their '100 Heroes' Exhibition.

I decided that the most fitting cake design was the gallery's logo: a crop symbol. In the top and bottom sections of the cake I built in layers upon layers of red velvet cake. Then, in the right and left sides of the cake I incorporate mini cupboards- filled with red and purple cupcakes. It was really important for there to be an element of surprise and mystery to this cake.
